A new race in 2018. For 2019 I have made a couple of changes to take out some of the stony fire roads. Registration, prize giving (don’t do it for the prizes…) and refreshments (bring some cash) at Angie’s Cafe in Tarland Square. The route starts by the mountain bike trails, winds its way through Drummie Woods then after a section of forest road climbs to the top of Knockargety. There is a loop at the top of the hill so you don’t bump into anyone or blind them with your head torch, then it follows the outward route back to the finish, a bit further down the road from the start (and just 100m from the cafe), It is mostly good running though there are various muddy or wet bits and maybe some brashings, fallen trees or the usual obstacles that make running interesting. There isn’t anything very steep.
Runners will be required to have a good headtorch, and to carry full body cover, a map and compass (just in case they get lost in the woods at night in the middle of winter). A spare torch is also a really good idea.
If you think you will be coming to the race it would be very helpful if you could register in advance here: register This is free and does not imply any commitment, but will speed up the registration process and give us and the cafe some idea of how many runners there are likely to be. Pay when you collect your number.
