Morven hillrace 2011

What an amazing break in the weather - warm and no wind, just long enough for everyone to get off the top before it began to rain again.  Another good contest between Deeside and Cosmics for the prizes, with Dan Whitehead (Deeside) 1st (48' 44"), Kevin Harper (Cosmics) 2nd (49' 57") and James Espie (Deeside) 3rd (50' 28").  Cosmics took the team prize with Kevin Harper, Tim Griffin (4th) and Chris Tomlin (6th).

In the Ladies it was another tight race with Veronique Oldham (Cosmics) first (58' 53"), Ruth Mackenzie (Deeside) 2nd (58' 54") and Beckie Woodland (South London Harriers) 3rd (66' 39").

In the Juniors, Half Morven, Sam Burgess (Deeside) was first U18 in 28' 40" and Brad Arthur (unattached) was first U16 in 30' 48".

Smith's do double at Stuc a Chroin as Simpson storms Three Peaks

Four Deeside Runners took part in the Stuc a Chroin race - Owen Bass, Peter Henry, along with Alan and Tilly Smith who both won their age categories.

Meanwhile at the Three Peaks race in Yorkshire Robbie Simpson once again proved he can mix it with the big names of UK hill running with an excellent 2nd place finish. The race attracted a large turnout with many clubs fielding full teams and a strong Scottish contingent. It would be a great weekend outing so pencil it in your diary for 2012 now....

Balmoral Roundup

Well done to all who ran at Balmoral there were some excellent performances despite the rain.

At the sharp end of the 5k Dan Whitehead was 3rd, Sam Burgess 4th and Drew Tivendale 10th.

In the 10k Robbie Simpson was 3rd and Clare Whitehead was 2nd lady. Both used the Saturday 10k on the road as a warm up for the half marathon the next day on more challenging terrain where they showed their class with Robbie winning by about three minutes and Clare first lady and ninth overall.

Apologies for not mentioning everyone else who ran, the results site does not have club details registered for most people so searching would take a while!

Deeside Top Team at Clachnaben

Well done to the Deeside Men who brought home the team prize from Clachnaben on Saturday.

Dave Hirst and Tilly Smith also ran well on a very warm day.
