Back down to Inverey car park and ran out the track up the west side of Tom Anthon. Approached the top from the south side.
Descended down the north side to the Cairn, across a fence. Large cairn, with no memorial markings – I surmised it to be a memorial to cairn builders! Interesting descent down past the cliffs through the woods to the car park following a few faint deer tracks.
View from Tom Anthon up Glen Ey.

Well it looked nice leaving Aboyne – but all thoughts of a circuit over by Glas Maol were gone after passing through Braemar. Parked in car park below Dubh Choire and put on some extra layers. Ran alongside the river till the next bridge, had to cross the bridge and use the footbridge to cross over the full burns. Followed the track up to Sron na Gaoithe, thankfully sheltered on the lee side until arriving at the top – did not stay there long! Return rapidly on same route.
Back down to Braemar with just enough daylight to get up Creag Choinnich. Very nice track up through the woods and made up to very good walking track to the top after the woods. Followed another track, not marked on the map, back down to the woods and picked up the return loop. Need to go back for a run around by the Lion’s Face another time. Thankfully did not suffer Ursula’s wincing experience on the way down!!

A nice wee 7k diversion on my way into Aberdeen! Ran up from Raemoir House, lots of forestry work going on. Clear blustery morning.
Tue 3rd Nov
Cycled in from Inverey, first stop The Colonel’s Bed – what a fascinating gorge. Then onward up to Altanour Lodge, at 10k, for a snack and park the bike before deciding to do a few extra Munroes on such glorious day. Headed up the ridge to An Socach where I was greeted by two ladies who had walked over from Glenshee. Then across the saddle to Beinn Lutharn Bheag, and then on to Mam nan Carn, and finally Beinn Lutharn Mhor. Amused to see a fourth Lochan Uaine below. Lovely run along the top and then down the ridge. Final section was boggy for last 2k back to the bike. Great bike ride back down the glen.

Mon 2nd Nov
Cycled in to turn off for Gleann Luibeg (8k), then a 5k run/walk following the stream up to Lochan Uaine, snuggled into the cliffs below Ben MacDui. Another brilliant day with great views. Returned on higher ground to pick up the track down from Sron Riach – then a fast run back to the bike. 25k total, in about 4 hours.
Mon 26th Oct
Cycled in from the Old Military Road, 3.5k up from Crathie junction. Only about 1.5k was cycleable, ran the rest, up over An Creagan, across Duchrie Burn and up to Tom Breac. Return same route – 10k total.
I left the sunshine at my house to go up Creag Choinich. After pulling my left Achilles at training on Tuesday, overstretching a glute muscle at Tai chi on Saturday and racing on Sunday, I thought a walk would do me good. From the summits I could see snow showers coming from Glenshee and from Linn of Dee directions. Low lying areas were really flooded. On the way down, my old trainers slipped over the tops of some stepping stones and I just kept going in slow motion until a sharp edge of a rock ended up in my butt cleavage, I landed on my elbow, and hurt my toe. It just proves that my Dad was right when he said exercise is bad for you. .
